How can I be certain the Bible is the Word of God? Why do some people not believe the Bible is true? What is the role of the church’s testimony? What other evidences are there? In this week’s episode we’ll discuss these questions as more. Tune in as Joel, Shawn, Nathan and Kyle discuss Westminster Confession of Faith 1.5:
We may be moved and induced by the testimony of the Church to an high and reverent esteem of the Holy Scripture. And the heavenliness of the matter, the efficacy of the doctrine, the majesty of the style, the consent of all the parts, the scope of the whole (which is, to give all glory to God), the full discovery it makes of the only way of man’s salvation, the many other incomparable excellencies, and the entire perfection thereof, are arguments whereby it does abundantly evidence itself to be the Word of God: yet notwithstanding, our full persuasion and assurance of the infallible truth and divine authority thereof, is from the inward work of the Holy Spirit bearing witness by and with the Word in our hearts.

I don’t know how you guys can talk for 45 minutes about this paragraph without addressing schools of apologetics. This paragraph speaks powerfully on that topic, that a few schools of apologetics, in fact, are to be eliminated.
1.4 addresses the topic of schools of apologetics FAR more importantly than 1.5.
Nothing wrong with what you guys said about 1.4, and I like this podcast; I like it because the quality level is usually much higher than it was in this case.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Obviously, given certain constraints we have imposed on each episode it is impossible to cover the full scope of all that could be said. We realized when we began we would not be able to do that and in not doing so, we would inevitably disappoint some of our listeners. Sorry this last episode was such a disappointment to you.
We do, however, take an episode at the end of each chapter to answer questions listeners have and, hopefully, to cover a little more ground. I’ll be sure to add your question to the docket.
Thanks again!
